Department of Graphic Arts Communication National Normal University

Located within the city of Taipei, the Department of Graphic Arts Communication is a newly expanded program mandated 3 years ago by the Ministry of Education to support the strategic expansions for Taiwan to become the Asian Pacific Media Center. Formerly under the department of Industrial Education, the existing program used to admit each year only 3 to 5 government paid students mainly to fill the staffing needs of technical schools.  Starting this year, the program will admit 40 self financed students at NT40k/student-year.   Unlike the government paid students, the self financed students do not need to take education credits for the degree in education but will receive degrees in engineering.  Its curricular emphases are graphics and multi-media production, pre-press design, and publication managment.  The department plans to admit the first MS class in 2000 and PhD class in 2003.
