Located in San-Chung, a Taipei suburb, on an office space of 990sqm, with a research and supporting staff of 20 and 10, respectively, and increasing fiscal budget of NT70M, PTRI was established in 1993 by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Taiwan Printing Industry Association to elevate the global competitiveness of their printing industry.  This research institution has since been jointly supported by the government, production, research, and teaching sectors.  Its primary target is the assistance of small and medium size companies.  Its activities include research in printing and production technologies, factory environments, market strategies, productivity and management. In the 97-98 fiscal year, 21 cases have been successfully completed with a total production cost savings of 76 millions.
